Outcome PAINT:A Problem Solving

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis on Painting will be able to design and evaluate strategies to answer open-ended questions.
Objective 1 Students in ART 260 Introduction to Painting will be able to create convincing color, value, and light in an oil painting made from observation.

We have found that students in some semesters tend to be more advanced in that more of them are ART majors, whereas the other sections consists of a broader combination of students with art experience. With this course being a General Education course, the instructor can evaluate experience and proceed accordingly.

Outcome PAINT:B Critical Thinking

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting will be able to use systematic reasoning to examine and evaluate information and ideas and then synthesize their conclusions to propose new perspectives and solutions.
Objective 1 Students in ART 361 Intermediate Painting I will be able to use critical feedback as a means of developing their artistic ideas.

Outcome PAINT:C Integration

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting will be able to synthesize and apply knowledge, experiences, and multiple perspectives to new, complex situations.
Objective 1 Students in ART 362 Intermediate Painting II will demonstrate an understanding of tools and mediums of oil painting in a variety of methods, applications, and styles.

Objective 1 Students in ART 462 Advanced Painting I will Identify and pursue increasingly individual ideas and direction in paintings.

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting will be able to effectively communicate verbally with a public audience across a variety of contexts.
Objective 1 Students in ART 260 Introduction to Painting will demonstrate evaluative critique and discussion skills, in a range of both formal and informal contexts.

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting will be able to synthesize and apply knowledge, experiences, and multiple perspectives to new, complex situations.
Objective 1 Students in ART 361 Intermediate Painting will exhibit sensitivity towards surface quality and craftsmanship.
