Outcome CERAMIC:A Critical Thinking

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics will be able to identify, access, evaluate, and synthesize multiple forms of information in relation to ceramics.
Objective 1 Students in ART 275 will be able to articulate and demonstrate an understanding of how meaning in the arts is created and interpreted through process and concept.

Outcome CERAMIC:B Problem Solving

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics will be able to design and evaluate strategies to answer open-ended questions.
Objective 1 Students in ART 376 will demonstrate an understanding of clays and their different technical and aesthetic uses in throwing.

Winter 2018 Intermediate Ceramics 1 students. 6 students were assessed (one section of Art 376) in the first 1/3 of the semester. Using the Problem Solving rubric, 79% were assessed to be at the "Satisfies" level; 17% were at the "Progressing" level; and 4% were at "Baseline" level.

Outcome CERAMIC:C Written Communication

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics will be able to use systematic reasoning to examine and evaluate information and ideas and then synthesize conclusions to propose new perspectives and solutions.
Objective 1 Students in ART 275 will be able to characterize the relationship between art and craft, art and culture, and the relationship between the human body and the object, using both additive and reductive forming methods to find unique solutions to various assigned projects through exploring the expressive potential of clay.

Outcome CERAMIC:D Oral Communication

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics will be able to write effectively for multiple purposes and audiences in relation to ceramics technique and its history.
Objective 1 Students in ART 376 will demonstrate their familiarity with work of contemporary artists using clay and mixed materials.

Outcome CERAMIC:E Critical Thinking

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics will be able to effectively communicate verbally with a public audience across a variety of contexts.
Objective 1 Students in ART 275 will be able to verbally assess the differing perspectives and assumptions underlying the dichotomies inherent in ceramics, particularly in relation to the work, and provide logical of arguments to support their positions.

Graduates of Studio Art with an emphasis in Ceramics will be able to design and evaluate strategies to answer open-ended questions.
Objective 1 Students in ART 376 will demonstrate their ability to achieve technical quality in their thrown pottery and glazing techniques.
