Vice Provost Student Advisory Board (VSAB)

Vice Provost Student Advisory Board members

Purpose

The Student Advisory Board is a select group of diverse students who provide feedback and advice directly to the Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students (VPDoS) about the student experience at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). The Board meets monthly throughout the academic year to discuss topics facing the institution and of importance to students. The Board’s perspectives help the VPDoS consider ways the Division of Student Affairs can better serve students. This Board is not intended to replace unit or department advisory boards, or existing student organizations; rather, its purpose is to advise and work with the VPDoS on topics that may not otherwise be discussed within existing campus conversations.

Composition & Selection Process

  • Any enrolled GVSU student may apply for membership (undergraduate or graduate). All board members are selected by the VPDoS or designee(s) through an application and interview process.

  • Students must have a 2.5 or above GPA.

  • Members will adhere to the GVSU Student Code and other policies set by the University. Violations of the Student Code and/or other policies may result in review of membership and possible cancellation of membership.

  • The Board consists of 10-15 students and is heavily comprised of students who may not already serve in campus student leadership roles and/or interact regularly with the VPDoS and/or other Division of Student Affairs leaders.
