Jack R. Mangala is professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and of Political Science. He served as the inaugural director of the school of interdisciplinary studies. Previous assignments at GVSU include chair of the Area and Global Studies Department, director of the African and African American Studies Program, and director of Area Studies. A former public prosecutor and NATO-EAPC fellow, Dr. Mangala completed his post-doctoral work at the University of Michigan Law School. Prof. Mangala's scholarly interests center on the nexus between international law and human security, diaspora engagement policy, and on Africa's international relations (EU-US-China).
