Community Hearing Clinic at Grand Valley- Our Services

Our Services

We provide a full range of services to help you with your hearing needs. Our services extend for all populations, from newborns through to our amazing aging population.  The faculty and students spend more time with you than what professionals in most other facilities have time to do.  We believe that you will find this to be an extraordinary experience, unique from what you may find in other healthcare visits.

Hearing Diagnostics

Comprehensive battery of tests

If you or a loved one seems to be struggling with communication, it could be a hearing loss. We have state-of-the-science technology to help determine why you are having difficulty, which allows us to discuss your rehabilitative options.  Hearing loss frequently goes undiagnosed and misunderstood, and we are here to help.

Hearing Aids

Consultations, fitting, programming, checks, repairs

If you already have a hearing device that does not seem to be working right, we may be able to help you.  And if you are interested in trying your first hearing aids or trying the latest advances in technology, we can fit and program a hearing aid to your hearing loss and listening needs.

Tinnitus Management

For that annoying ringing in the ears

One of the most frustrating of all ear problems is associated with tinnitus or ringing in the ears.  Let us evaluate your hearing and tinnitus and then help you manage the problem.

Pediatric Services

Auditory processing and hearing assistive technology

Many children, as well as older adults, experience difficulty understanding speech beyond what can be explained by a loss of hearing sensitivity. Let us see if there is something we can do to help you with some of those difficult listening situations.

Implantable Solutions (cochlear implants and bone conduction hearing solutions)

There are times when traditional hearing aids are not the right solution or are not enough

We work with physicians both in Grand Rapids and on the east side of the state (Michigan Ear Institute) to support your hearing needs beyond traditional hearing aids. We work with you to determine if a bone conduction hearing solution is right for you or if cochlear implantation may be right for you. We provide comprehensive evaluations, referrals to surgeons, and follow-up care.

Electrophysiology Testing

Auditory brainstem response (ABR; or sometimes referred to as BAER testing) and more

There are times when we want more information about the VIIIth nerve (auditory nerve) and/or about the brainstem and how they respond to sound. Additionally, further up the central auditory nervous system there are potentials that tell us more about how the brain is processing sounds. These objective tests may be recommended by your audiologist or your ear, nose and throat physician to help make diagnostic or rehabilitative decisions related to your care.

Vestibular Testing

For patients experiencing dizziness

The auditory system is related to your balance system. We provide a range of assessments to evaluate why you make be experiencing dizziness. Our team will provide you with a comprehensive case history, testing, and recommendations.

Hearing Consulations

Informational sessions and aural rehabilitation

We provide opportunities for you to participate in educational events to help you learn more about hearing loss and its management.  We sponsor no-cost events such as group aural rehabilitation meetings and informational sessions on hearing loss, hearing aids, and other related topics.

Hearing Conservation

Preventing work-related noise exposures

Does your business have a possible noise problem that could be causing hearing loss with your employees?  We can monitor noise levels in the work environment and, if needed, help to implement a Hearing Conservation Program.
