Online courses begin in August and January
The curriculum for the Seidman Financial Planning Certificate Program has been registered by the CFP Board and meets the educational requirements to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.
- Courses meet online almost every week (there are holiday breaks) resulting in 51 hours of course time.
- There are 2 courses total, with 3 units in each course, one course in the fall semester and one in the winter semester.
- Each course costs $2,300.00 ($4,600.00 total for the full program).
- The fall course begins the last week of August and finishes mid December. The winter course begins the second week of January and finishes mid April. This sets you up perfectly to register and take the CFP Board exam in July if you choose to do so.
- Upon completion of both courses, participants will receive a certificate of completion & the CFP Board is notified you have completed the educational requirement to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.
Grand Valley State University does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER and certification marks. CFP® certification is granted only by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to those persons who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met its ethics, experience, and examination requirements.
