Engineering is Elementary workshop

Description
Teachers of students in grades 1-5 in Kent, Ottawa, Montcalm, Allegan, and Van Buren Counties are invited to participate in this one-day professional learning opportunity!
As part of the Michigan STEMworks grant program, the GVSU Regional Math and Science Center, in collaboration with Allegan/Van Buren Math & Science Center and Wayne RESA, is happy to present a day of learning with Engineering is Elementary! These revolutionary kits from the Museum of Science, Boston provide hands on, relevant, culturally aware programming to introduce students to engineering concepts. This interactive program will provide:
• Exploring the kit:
"A Long Way Down: Designing Parachutes"
• Information
about all 20 EiE units;
• Professional development discussions
and reflections;
• Review of EiE resources; and
•
Sharing your experiences and planning with colleagues.
As part of the STEMworks grant, each teacher will receive planning
and curriculum materials, including:
• Complimentary use of one
EiE kit, shipped to your school with return shipping; and
•
Choice of EiE teacher guide and storybook to build your own kit system
Included with your FREE registration:
• Morning session with
all grade levels
• Lunch and light refreshments
•
Afternoon break-out sessions for 1-3 and 4-5 (registration dependent)
