Our research explores the psychological characteristics, personal histories, and current psychosocial circumstances of parents who come to the attention of the Department of Human Services in Kent County for Child Maltreatment.  Our methods rely on coding of archival records from forensic evaluation and court records.  To date our data have allowed improved understanding of the psychosocial histories of parents who maltreat their children.  We hope to ultimately to better understand how psychosocial risk factors influence perpetration of child maltreatment to better inform intervention programming.
