Overview

GVSU and Cracow University of Economics (CUE) in Cracow, Poland are partners through the Erasmus+ programme. Erasmus+ is a new scheme through the European Union to expand mobility opportunities between educational institutions in the EU and other countries around the world. Under the original Erasmus programme, the EU Commission offered funding for mobility between EU partner institutions. Erasmus + is an expanded mobility scheme which helps fund faculty and student mobility with partner institutions outside of Europe.

Program Duration

A minimum of 5 days is required. The Erasmus + funding is limited to 5 days. Projects requiring more than 5 days should consult with the Padnos International Center to entertain the possibility of other supplemental funding.

Total Number of Grants Available each academic year

1 staff teaching grant (only available to full-time, permanent faculty – tenure, tenure-track, and affiliates)

1 staff training grant (available to administrators or faculty)

When do you travel?

Applications will be required to conduct the teaching or training mobility during the CUE academic year. Actual dates will be subject to approval by the host department at CUE.

Program Requirements

  • All participants are required to stay for a minimum of 5 days at the partner institution.
  • Faculty applying for a teaching mobility program will be required to teach or guest lecture for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Only permanent academic staff are eligible to apply for a teaching mobility (tenure, tenure-track, or affiliate faculty with a minimum of 3 years of service).
  • Both faculty and administrative staff (AP) are eligible to apply for a staff training mobility grant. Administrative staff must be full-time, permanent staff with at least 1 year of service.
  • Grant recipients will be expected to participate in hosting activities of any future CUE faculty or student visitors to GVSU.

Accommodations

The stipend you receive can be used to cover the cost of accommodation in Cracow for the duration of your visit. There are a number of affordable hotels throughout the city.

Application Process

A completed application must be submitted to the Padnos International Center by:

August 1 for mobility taking place the following academic year, September - June

A completed application will contain:

  • Course Proposal Form (staff teaching applicants only)
  • Proposed Training Description (staff training applicants only)
  • Current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
  • Letter of interest or motivation, with a description of proposed teaching or training activities.
  • Personal Data Form
  • Copy of passport information page

A GVSU review committee will interview all applicants and nominate a finalist. All finalists are subject to final approval by CUE. 

Award Amount

Awardees will receive a 140 Euro per day up to 5 days. Additionally, transport to Poland will be covered up to 820 Euro. 

The Padnos International Center will provide a supplemental grant to cover any airfare costs not reimbursed by the Erasmus+ program.

Evaluation and Certificate

All participants will receive an attendance certificate upon completion of the program. Additionally, all participants will be required to submit a report detailing the program activities completed.
