Admissions
Audition Repertoire:
- All major and harmonic minor scales and arpeggios (four octaves).
- One Baroque work to be chosen from: A Baroque suite (two contrasting movements); a three-part invention; or a Prelude and Fugue from the Well Tempered Clavier Book I or II (Bach); or a comparable work by another Baroque composer (such as a Scarlatti Sonata)
- One movement of a Classical sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven (excluding Op. 49 Beethoven)
- One piece from the Romantic, Impressionistic, or Twentieth Century (for example: Chopin Nocturnes, Brahms Rhapsodies, Op. 79, Debussy Preludes, Gershwin Preludes, Norman Dell Joio Diversions, and Muczynski Preludes, Op. 6)
- Memory is expected.

Students wishing to minor in piano, please feel free to contact Dr. Cho ([email protected]) to discuss audition repertoire.
Students interested in music scholarships and music honors scholarships are advised to audition early. Honors Scholarship awards are expected to conclude at the March auditions.
Students wishing to major or minor in Music at Grand Valley State University should complete an online application for the Music Program, where you will choose your audition date. Students are encouraged to audition early, as spaces and scholarships are limited.
