WELCOME TO THE GVSU SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The GVSU Symphony Orchestra is comprised of music majors, minors, and talented students from across campus through audition. The ensemble performs a wide range of professional level literature with performances in the Louis Armstrong Theatre and around West Michigan. Members of the Symphony Orchestra may also be involved in the Chamber Orchestra, a select group of the finest string and wind players. The GVSU Symphony engages in unique experiential learning performance projects including traditional orchestral masterworks, world premieres, composer commissions, concertos with faculty and student soloists, as well as special recording projects including Vladimir Werner's Concerto for Oboe (2024) and the Acrisure Amphitheater Theme Song (2026).
