Biography
Katherine Clemons (she/her) is the Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Grand Valley State University and an active Intimacy Director, Director, Fight Choreographer, and Actor throughout Michigan. She is an alumna of the Michigan State University MFA Acting Program (Class of 2024), where she also earned a graduate certificate in Arts and Cultural Management. At GVSU, Katherine recently directed She Loves Me (Winter 2026), WRENS (Fall 2025), Little Women: The Broadway Musical (Winter 2025), Bard to Go: To Thine Own Self Be True (Fall 2024), and Opera Scenes (Fall 2024/2025). Other directing credits include An Iliad and Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter (Michigan State University), Schoolhouse Rock Live! (Summer Circle Theatre), The Grass Was Greener and Come She Will (YAP Festival), and more. Recent intimacy credits include The Piano Lesson (Detroit Repertory Theatre), A Facility for Living (Flint Repertory Theatre), Waitress (Michigan Stage), and I and You (Summer Circle Theatre). Recent acting credits include Tracey in Sweat (2023 Wilde Award Winner for Best Leading Actress in a Play–Drama), Linda in Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter, Hot Flash in For the Love Of: (or, the roller derby play), Queen Gynecia in Head Over Heels. Additional favorite roles include Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Shelby in Steel Magnolias, and Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing. Katherine previously served as Education Director at Actors Theatre of Indiana and performed throughout the Midwest. She received her BS in Theatre Studies from Ball State University in 2015. When Katherine isn’t working, she enjoys reading, adventuring with her husband and two children, and playing with their two pups.
