Biography
Alex Hamel is a multi-instrumentalist working professionally throughout West Michigan. He studied classical percussion and jazz drumset at GVSU, and middle eastern percussion and Balinese gamelan while working at Cornell University. Alex's history with GVSU dance goes back almost ten years, when he began accompanying classes while still a student. In addition to dance accompaniment, he performs extensively in theatre pit orchestras throughout Grand Rapids and beyond, gigs locally with several bands in the area, including Pangea Steeldrum Band, and tours the country with local troupe Super Happy Funtime Burlesque. He fills the rest of his time recording many local acts live in concert, and in his studio in Grand Rapids.
