Biography:
Dr. Prince N. Anyalebechi is a full Professor of Engineering. He joined Grand Valley State University as an Assistant Professor in 2001 after almost 12 years in industry. From 1985 to 1996 and 1999 to 2001, he worked at Alcoa Technical Center, where he conducted fundamental and applied research on manufacturing processes and alloys used in the production of a variety of aluminum products including foils, beverage cans, automotive, and aircraft parts. From August 1996 to December 1999, he served as an Associate Professor in James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. He is a member of several professional organizations including, The Institute of Materials, Minerals, & Mining (IOM3), ASM International, The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), Society of Manufacturing Engineers, American Foundry Society, American Society for Engineering Education, and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.
He has published more than fifty technical papers in refereed journals, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and reference handbooks. He is the editor/co-editor of six conference proceedings. He holds two U.S. patents and serves as a consultant to several companies in the metals industry. Dr. Anyalebechi’s areas of research interest include: (i) mold/casting interface behavior in casting processes; (ii) partitioning, solution, diffusion, removal, measurement, and control of hydrogen and the associated defects in aluminum (and other metal) products; and (iii) control, evolution, and characterization of microstructures developed during casting, heat treatment, and thermomechanical processing.
Dr. Anyalebechi is also a martial artist; a San Dan (third degree black) in both Okinawa Karate and Kobudo; a black belt in American Freestyle Karate, and a red belt (brown belt equivalent) in Tang Soo Do. He has also studied Jeet Kune Do, Kali, and Escrima.
