Top Student IT Frequently Asked Questions

What device should I use at GVSU?

This is a common question that we receive!

If you know what you will be majoring in, we recommend that you contact the department to see if they have any specific recommendations or requirements for a laptop. If they do not, it is a user preference of either a Mac or a PC. In general, we do not recommend Chromebooks.

Laker Tech has an in-depth guide to recommended device specs.  Review the Laker Tech device guide and learn more about what Laker Tech provides to GVSU students

Need to print a paper or project while at GVSU? We've got you covered with GV Print—a cloud-based printing system that makes it easy.

You can upload your document online and release it to print at any computer lab during open hours or at designated print stations across campus.

Every student gets $25 in free printing per semester. If you need more, you can add funds anytime at gvprint.gvsu.edu

To get started, check out the Printing on Campus and GVPrint Information Knowledge Base article.  You can also watch the How to Print at GV video
