Have you attended the Conscious Uncovering course with Jay and Trina? Or perhaps you have a familiarity with the concept of covering already? This session takes this concept of covering disruption to the next level by identifying covering in yourself and others. After all, “You can’t fix what you don’t face.” We will walk through and practice how to intentionally disrupt patterns, behaviors, and ideologies to consciously uncover. By leveraging evidence supported tools we work together to examine personal identities and intersections and reframe how we look at ourselves and others. Taking what you know about the concept of covering combined with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to identify what ACTIONS may need to be taken depending on the level of need.
Learning Outcomes - Participants will be able to:
- Examine personal identities and intersectional experiences to recognize patterns, behaviors, and ideologies that contribute to covering in themselves and others.
- Apply evidence-informed tools and reflective practices to intentionally disrupt covering behaviors and foster more authentic engagement and belonging.
- Analyze situations through the lens of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to determine appropriate actions and interventions that support conscious uncovering at different levels of individual need (including self).
- Utilize case study practice sessions to demonstrate skills associated with reflective practices.
