B.S. Cybersecurity

The Bachelor of Science program in Cybersecurity is designed to provide students with breadth in the cybersecurity field. This program is built on a strong technical foundation, sharing classes on programming with GVSU's Computer Science major, and sharing classes on networking with GVSU's Information Systems major. Students will learn about many aspects of cybersecurity including software security, systems security, network security, and computer forensics.

The Bachelor of Science program in Cybersecurity is an NSA validated Program of Study.

B.S. Cybersecurity Requirements

Cybersecurity Minor

The Cybersecurity minor is accessible to students in any major on campus. Several courses overlap with the Computer Science major, making it an ideal choice for Computer Science students who want more cybersecurity knowledge than is included in their major. Students in this minor will get broad exposure to cybersecurity concepts in CIS 258, and gain in depth knowledge in two areas of cybersecurity through elective classes.

Cybersecurity Minor Requirements

Information Security Systems minor

Students in the Information Security Systems minor learn about either System Security or Computer and Cyber Forensics, along with the necessary computing background as well as criminal justice content to understand and apply a legal perspective on Cybersecurity. This minor is ideal for Cybersecurity students who want a better understanding of the legal aspects or Criminal Justice students who want to specialize in Cybersecurity aspects.

M.S. Cybersecurity

The Master of Science in Cybersecurity program is designed to provide Cybersecurity education to students who already have a background in a computing field. By focusing on the underlying principles behind cybersecurity, our program prepares students to handle future cybersecurity challenges in addition to today's threats. This program is designed to be convenient for working professionals, with classes offered in evenings or online.

M.S. Cybersecurity Requirements

Cybersecurity Badge

The graduate badge in Cybersecurity provides an opportunity for students to earn a digital badge by learning about the specific aspects of cybersecurity that interest them. Students take a course in information security principles, and two electives of their choice. This badge can be used as a component of the Masters of Science in Applied Computer Science.
