Orientations held for students of color

This year for the first time, an orientation was held for first-year African American students. The Black Excellence Orientation followed the same model as Laker Familia, now in its fourth year of serving new Latino/a students.

GVSU study: activity-permissible classrooms lead to more student engagement

The typical classroom has taken the same shape for more than 200 years with students sitting in rows and columns of desks facing the front of the classroom while the teacher progresses through a lesson plan.
