GVSU named Best in Region, Best Value, Most Innovative by U.S. News

Grand Valley State University has once again been named a top university in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report.  In the "2019 Best Colleges rankings" Grand Valley ranked 1st among Michigan's public universities and 3rd overall in the category for "Top Public Regional Universities in the Midwest."

GVSU enrollment shows increase in first-year students, diversity

Grand Valley State University welcomed one of its largest first-year classes in its history. The university has enrolled more than 4,000 first-year students for the seventh year in a row, and they are coming in with stellar academic records and taking more classes. This is one of the highest freshman enrollments in Michigan, which is seeing a decline in the number of high school graduates.

After a minor scare from July's reading of -3 for new orders, the West Michigan economy has returned to a normal pattern of slow growth, said Brian G. Long, director of Supply Management Research in the Seidman College of Business.

Fall Arts Celebration art exhibit explores the mysteries of Mars

Throughout the years, Mars has been depicted in multiple forms as societies around the world have gazed at the Red Planet. During this year's Fall Arts Celebration, the "Mars: Astronomy and Culture" exhibit will bring together 140 photographs, drawings, movie posters, book covers and more spotlighting Mars. A special reception for the exhibit, which will include a virtual reality simulator, will take place September 13.

Laker Marching Band finds new "Voice" in GVSU alumnus

Joel Paauwe, '15, has been named the new "Voice of the Laker Marching Band." The "Voice" announces for the marching band during pregame and halftime shows at all home football games, exhibition shows, select away games, and the annual Laker Marching Band Bandorama concert.

Arts at Noon to feature international musicians, GVSU faculty

The Arts at Noon concert series at Grand Valley will kick off a new season this fall featuring multiple free performances by renowned musicians from around the world. The series will feature seven concerts this fall, beginning September 12 with the Mirror Visions Ensemble, followed by seven winter performances beginning in January.

For the sixth time, Grand Valley is included in the Sierra Club's annual list of Cool Schools. The list ranks schools that have a strong commitment to environmental improvement and are making significant efforts to operate sustainably.
