Students create glue, extract banana DNA and explore green chemistry during STEM event

Extracting DNA from a banana, exploring magnetism and using green chemistry were just a few of the activities that local middle school students participated in during a recent, interactive STEM event. The Grand Valley community turned Little Caesars Arena Laker blue by attending the first GVSU Night at the February 24 Red Wings game in Detroit. A total of $3,585 was raised through ticket sales for the GVSU Scholarship Fund.

Design Thinking Academy Pop-up Classes to focus on active listening and collaboration

Active listening and collaboration are two essential elements to comprehend in order to fully utilize the design thinking process. Two upcoming workshops presented by Grand Valley's Design Thinking Academy will aim to teach these skills to faculty, students, and the community. Pop-up Classes will take place February 28 (collaboration) and March 14 (listening) on the Allendale Campus. Both workshops will be facilitated by Steve Seward of Seward Consulting.
