Lakers Basketball advances to NCAA Final Four

The GVSU Women's Basketball Team took another step toward a title repeat in their Elite Eight matchup on March 24. In Pittsburgh's UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse, the No. 1-seeded Lakers defeated the No. 8-seeded Carson-Newman Eagles 96-48.

Senior Nicole Kamin and sophomore Ava Scanlon led the team in scoring, tallying 16 points each. Senior Lexi Plitzuweit led GVSU with six assists. Alongside a strong offensive performance, the Lakers' defense forced 17 Carson-Newman turnovers, including five steals and two blocks by Kamin.

The victory sends GVSU to the Division II Final Four, where the team will play against Alabama Huntsville. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on March 26.
