Mauriello brings entrepreneurial leadership to new role as director of nursing's Wesorick Center

Linda Lewandowski, dean of the Kirkhof College of Nursing, announced the hiring of Leanne Mauriello as executive director of the Bonnie Wesorick Center for Health Care Transformation.

Lewandowski said Mauriello's impressive career and leadership skills will build upon the innovative work of the Wesorick Center to reignite the center's role in interprofessional point-of-care health care transformation.

“We couldn’t ask for a more ideal candidate,” Lewandowski said. “Dr. Mauriello’s experience as a proven thought leader within the health care industry and as an entrepreneur aligns well with the work of the Wesorick Center. We are eager to see her leadership in action.”

Leanne Mauriello will begin her role as executive director of the Bonnie Wesorick Center for Health Care Transformation on July 8.

An endowed center named for Bonnie Wesorick and housed within KCON, the Wesorick Center focuses on current health care systems and practices related to point-of-care, considering both the patient and caregiver. Through collaboration, exploration and research, the center hopes to discover new ways of approaching care that positively impact health care systems across the country. The work of the Wesorick Center is a key way KCON is actively engaged in the national health care conversation. Lewandowski said Mauriello’s unique mix of experience and interests will help the center continue to flourish.

Most recently, Mauriello led her own company, Evolve Health Advisors, which supports health care transformation projects globally. She had worked for nearly a decade at Corewell Health, where she launched and led the Lifestyle Medicine department and medical specialty, and served as vice president for research and product development at Pro-Change Behavior Systems in Rhode Island. She earned a doctorate in behavioral science and health psychology from the University of Rhode Island.

Mauriello, an expert in reimagining health care practices and systems, begins her new role on July 8. She said it aligns with her unique passions and purpose. “It is exactly the kind of meaningful, high-impact and transformative work that I relish," she said. "I am excited to get started and continue the visionary work of Bonnie Wesorick.”
