GVSU to be title sponsor for 60th annual LAUP Fiesta in Holland, introduce new LatinXperience Symposium

Grand Valley will be the title sponsor for Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP)’s 60th annual Fiesta Week, which will take place July 15-21 in Holland.

"Grand Valley is thrilled to be the title sponsor for the 60th annual Fiesta Week, an event that not only celebrates Latin American heritage, but also embodies Grand Valley's commitments to diversity and inclusion,” said Danny Velez, associate vice president for Admissions & Recruitment. “This vibrant event showcases the rich cultural tapestry of our region and provides an invaluable opportunity for our students and community members to come together in celebration and learning."

A new element of this year’s Fiesta is the LatinXperience Symposium, headlined by Grand Valley, which will take place on July 16 from 4-7 pm at the Holland Civic Center. The symposium will include a panel discussion and breakout conversations centered around the theme: Where Latino/a’s live, learn, and earn. Those interested in attending the symposium can learn more and RSVP on Grand Valley’s LatinXperience Symposium webpage

Johnny Rodriguez, president and CEO of LAUP, added: "We are excited to partner with Grand Valley State University for our 60th annual Fiesta Week, introducing the new LatinXperience Symposium to further empower and engage our community in meaningful conversations and experiences. As we honor LAUP's 60th year anniversary and celebrate the Latino community's contributions to West Michigan, this partnership with GVSU will create meaningful discussion and conversation for the future of the Latino/x community."

LAUP’s Fiesta has drawn over 20,000 attendees annually as one of the longest-running events in West Michigan. With live music and performances, food, dancing and educational opportunities, the Fiesta celebrates Latino culture as LAUP strives to create a better community through advocacy, celebration and education.
