Winter Semester health, safety update announced

In a January 5 email to the campus community, President Philomena V. Mantella said Grand Valley will resume face-to-face instruction when the Winter Semester begins on Monday, January 10.

However, Mantella wrote, the presence of the COVID Omicron variant does require moving to a modified Alert Level 3, per the Lakers Together health and safety plan.

Mantella urged students, faculty and staff members to review the Lakers Together website to ensure they are updated on campus operations and requirements.

Key points as the semester begins:

  • Face coverings are required indoors in all GVSU facilities.
  • Students living on campus and their guests must mask and social distance in public spaces.
  • Campus dining venues will be open for grab-and-go service.
  • Some campus activities will move from in-person to remote delivery.

Mantella wrote: "NCAA athletic events will continue consistent with player safety. Spectators are encouraged to be vaccinated, and they will need to complete self-assessment and be compliant with mask requirements. Event attendance will be limited."

The FAQ section of the Lakers Together site addresses many issues. Specific questions can go to the Call Center at (616) 331-4636.
