While GVSU has seen a slight increase in the number of COVID-19 cases on campus, overall numbers remain low. Thank you for your continued diligence in practicing safety measures.

Spring Weather

Warmer days provide great opportunities for Lakers to enjoy the outdoors. Remember to continue to follow best practices to slow the spread of COVID-19:

  • Use face coverings that cover the mouth and nose, and fit snugly against the sides of the face. Face coverings are required indoors, and outdoors when not alone.
  • Socializing in dining areas and when walking with others outside can spread the virus. Always wear a mask when interacting with those not in your household.
  • Check the Lakers Together website for information regarding event guidelines.

Variants and Travel

  • Travel poses one of the highest risks for contracting a COVID-19 variant, which spread easier than the original virus.
  • Florida has one of the highest variant rates in the country.
  • Follow the CDC travel guidance to reduce the risk of getting COVID while traveling, and the GVSU travel guidelines, which include testing three to five days after returning from travel, or sooner if you develop symptoms.

Vaccine Registration

Your best opportunity to receive a vaccination is through your health care provider and county health department. Local information is available at Vaccinate West Michigan. If you have received the COVID-19 vaccine, you must still follow all GVSU policies and guidelines regarding the virus.
