As more people become vaccinated, some state COVID-19 restrictions have been eased or lifted.

In alignment with CDC, state and MIOSHA guidance regarding masks, slight revisions have been made to the GVSU face covering policy.

  • Face coverings will continue to be required indoors at all campus locations, including classrooms; face coverings are NOT required outdoors.

Nearly 75% of faculty and staff members have reported on their daily online self-assessment that they are fully vaccinated.

Therefore:

  • Face coverings are not required for faculty or staff members when in a private office or meeting room when five or fewer people are present and all are vaccinated.

Only 31% of students enrolled in the Spring/Summer semester reported on their daily online self-assessment that they have been vaccinated. Students are strongly urged to get the COVID-19 vaccine and indicate their vaccination status on their self-assessment.

Further adjustments to policies will be considered as we see the student vaccination rate rise within the campus community.

Additional information can be found on the Face Covering Page on the Lakers Together website.

Changes are happening quickly and there is a lot to process during this time of transition. Many may feel safer by continuing to wear a face covering regardless of vaccination status.

The Virus Action Team, along with the Campus Readiness Team, will continue to keep the campus community updated as we work on preparations for the Fall semester.
