Grand Valley will welcome more than 5,200 students to campus living centers August 22-25.

Move-in starts a busy week on campus that will conclude with Convocation, held this year at the Fieldhouse Arena.

Students and supporters must complete the Lakers Together Daily Self-Assessment before arriving on campus; students need to be sure to report whether or not they are vaccinated.

Anyone going inside a GVSU building is required to wear a face covering.

The Helping Hands program will return, with faculty, staff and student volunteers helping students move belongings to their rooms. Over 180 volunteers will be there to assist as well as representatives from various student organizations.

Move-in week will conclude with an in-person Convocation ceremony on Friday, Aug. 27, when speakers such as President Philomena V. Mantella, Chris Plouff, interim provost and executive vice president for Academic and Student Affairs, and student representatives from each class will address first-year students.

Convocation is a celebration that marks the beginning of the academic year. The ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Fieldhouse Arena on the Allendale Campus. All students, faculty and staff members are invited to attend.
