Fall 2021 Commencement ceremonies to be in-person

Grand Valley’s Fall 2021 graduates are invited to attend in-person Commencement ceremonies in the Fieldhouse Arena on the Allendale Campus. Dates and times are determined by students’ specific colleges.

Each student will be allowed to invite up to four guests to attend their ceremony. There will be no student procession, but students will be permitted to walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. The deans will welcome each individual college and the names of graduates will be displayed.

Ceremony details are listed below:

  • Friday, December 10, at 7 p.m.

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies

  • Saturday, December 11, at 10 a.m.

Seidman College of Business

College of Education and Community Innovation

  • Saturday, December 11, at 3 p.m.

Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing

College of Health Professions

Kirkhof College of Nursing

Students must apply to graduate in order to participate in their Commencement ceremony; detailed event information will be sent to those who apply.

Graduation regalia can be ordered online through the GVSU Laker Store.

On November 8, students will receive additional information including how to access their digital yearbook and details about reserving tickets for themselves and guests.

Current plans assume the GVSU Alert Level remains at Level 2. GVSU will monitor COVID-19 guidance from the CDC, State of Michigan and local public health officials. Plans will be adjusted as needed to address new orders, guidance and data.
