Expert to discuss winter's impact on wind turbines
A research-based discussion on the impact a Great Lakes winter has
on offshore structures will take place at Grand Valley’s Michigan
Alternative and Renewable Energy Center.
“Offshore Wind Turbines vs Winter on the Great Lakes: Technology
Briefing” will take place on Monday, October 21, from 1:30-3 p.m. at
MAREC, 200 Viridian Dr. in Muskegon.
Dale G. Karr, a professor of naval architecture and marine
engineering at the University of Michigan, will discuss his research
for the U.S. Department of Energy. His research includes how ice
formation and extreme waves in the Great Lakes affect wind platform
design.
