Event will explore gender recognition
The LGBT Resource Center will host an event Tuesday, September 25,
that will explore the process of attributing gender to others.
Laurel Westbrook, assistant professor of sociology, will lead
the discussion, “Who Are you?: Gendering Public and Private Spaces,”
at 4 p.m. in room 2204 of the Kirkhof Center.
Westbrook will discuss examples from controversies over
transgender rights bills and transgender athletes. The event is part
of the LGBT Resource Center’s Ongoing Conference Series; visit www.gvsu.edu/lgbtrc to learn
