Event will explore gender recognition

The LGBT Resource Center will host an event Tuesday, September 25, that will explore the process of attributing gender to others.

Laurel Westbrook, assistant professor of sociology, will lead the discussion, “Who Are you?: Gendering Public and Private Spaces,” at 4 p.m. in room 2204 of the Kirkhof Center.

Westbrook will discuss examples from controversies over transgender rights bills and transgender athletes. The event is part of the LGBT Resource Center’s Ongoing Conference Series; visit www.gvsu.edu/lgbtrc to learn about upcoming events.
