Eric J. Moore, a 2014 graduate from the College of Education's Special Education program, has had a manuscript accepted for publication based on the thesis work he completed while at Grand Valley State University. The manuscript is titled “Postsecondary inclusion for individuals with an intellectual disability and its effects on employment," and it has been accepted and will be published in a future volume of the Journal of Intellectual Disabilities, which is an internationally recognized professional journal in special education.

"Eric's thesis research contributes significantly to the fields understanding of how to improve post school outcomes for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities," said Amy Schelling, Ed.D., Eric's thesis chair, "I am very proud of the work that he did and the ways in which he will continue to contribute to the field of special education."

Eric has started a doctoral program at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he received the Graduate Diversity Enhancement Fellowship. This competitive fellowship is awarded to students who demonstrate significant potential to contribute to the UTK Graduate School’s educational mission and its diversity-related goals. Eric was also awarded a graduate assistantship to teach and develop curriculum for a Life Skills course in UTK's post-secondary education program for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (the FUTURE program). He is concurrently teaching in the FUTURE program and working on his PhD studies in special education at UTK.
