John Zaugra, retired senior counselor

John
Zaugra, retired staff member, died February 21, 2024. He was 82.
Zaugra served as a counselor in the University Counseling Center for 32 years, retiring in 2012 as senior counselor with emeritus status.
Zaugra, who earned an AP Award in 2003, wrote two books on career development. He also served on the Grand Haven School Board from 1999-2007.
Retired faculty member
Roelof
Bijkerk, professor emeritus of psychology, died March 9, 2024. He
was 95.
Bijkerk began working at Grand Valley in 1969 and served as department chair and faculty governance leader. He gave the keynote address at the university's first convocation in 1977. Bijkerk retired in 1994.
A celebration of life will take place on July 27 at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr SE, Grand Rapids.
