Faculty and staff members who have given presentations, were recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research published are detailed below. The campus community can submit a sketch online for future publication.

interdisciplinary studies, was interviewed by NBC San Diego for a story
about the public perception of weight given new weight loss drugs.
Whitt Kilburn, associate professor of political science, was interviewed by MLive for a story about Michigan voters narrowly voting for President-elect Trump.
Research by Kyle Brink, professor of management, was featured by Inc. in a story about how managers should approach political discussions at work.
Biology faculty members Alexandra Locher and Rob Larson were interviewed by WOOD-TV for a story about initiatives in Kent County to find solutions to the growing deer population.
Paul Isely, professor of economics and associate dean for the Seidman College of Business, was interviewed by WOOD-TV for a story about food inflation and the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner.
LuWanna Williams, executive director of REP4, was interviewed by WGVU's Shelley Irwin about the initiative founded by Grand Valley and eight other partners on the Shelley Irwin Show podcast.
Lariesha Lee, assistant director for the Center for Women and Gender Equity, was interviewed by WOOD-TV and WGVU's Shelley Irwin for stories about support for Replenish Basic Needs Center during Giving Tuesday.
Tim Born, interim dean of the Padnos College of Engineering, was interviewed by Michigan Business Network, for a story about a partnership between Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration and GVSU that will allow safety professionals to apply the credentials they earned from MIOSHA training to a bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health management degree.
Lisa Perhamus, director of the Padnos/Sarosik Center for Civil Discourse and professor of interdisciplinary studies, was interviewed by WZZM TV for a story about the November 21 Civil Discourse symposium, which featured Gen Z voices and what national issues matter to them.
Ottawa Hills High School students competing for a scholarship through the "Ottawa Gauntlet" were featured in a WOOD TV story during a competition at the Seidman Center. A planning team led by the Seidman College of Business designed stations for the gauntlet, centered on soft skills. Students, faculty and staff assisted at the event.
Sketches
Aaron Mowen, director of Recreation and Wellness, was
honored by Saginaw Valley State University as one of its distinguished
alumni. Mowen
was recognized for his leadership and military service, which
included a deployment to Fallujah, Iraq, when he was a student.
Adrienne A. Wallace, associate professor for advertising and public relations, was a co-author of an article, "Exploring Feminist Pedagogy: Cultivating Authentic Communications Curricula in Project-Based Courses," published in Teaching Journalism and Mass Communication. Wallace was a co-author of the second edition of a book, Social Media and Society, published by Rowman and Littlefield.
Bopi Biddanda, professor of water resources at AWRI, John Weber, professor of geology, and Anthony Weinke, lab manager at AWRI, were among the co-authors of a book review about "Dust: The World in a Trillion Particles," published in the International Geology Review.
Laura Schneider, professor of political science, and student Nancy Hoogwerf gave a presentation, "Michigan's Climate Policy: The Pursuit of a Sustainable Future," at the American Political Science Association conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Adeline Borti, assistant professor of English, was the author of an article, "Book Review: Review of Black Immigrant Literacies: Intersections of Race, Language, and Culture in the Classroom," published in the Journal of Black Studies.

The Boise State News highlighted "Michigan Listens" in a story about the collaborative event. Nursing faculty member Julie Bekius was elected to the board of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners.
