Zulema Moret, retired faculty member
Zulema Moret, professor of modern languages and literatures, died January 29, 2023. She was 72.
Moret started teaching Spanish classes at Grand Valley in 2005 and retired in 2020. Janel Pettes Guikema, chair and professor of modern languages and literatures, called Moret "a teacher-poet who inspired students to see and create beauty through language."
In 2017, Moret organized an exhibition with Mexican artist Elina Chauvet to draw attention to domestic violence against women.
