More than 1,500 students came together as Lakers January 31 during a disco-themed evening filled with music, dancing, finger foods and endless photo ops. Presidents’ Ball is an annual Grand Valley tradition, but this year, the event was reimagined and moved to a new venue, GLC Live at 20 Monroe.

Quinten Proctor, Student Senate president, and Bridie Tolley, president of Campus Activities Board, emceed the event and introduced a few surprise performances throughout the evening featuring the Laker Dance Team and Ignite Dance Company.

Laker Dance team members were performing a disco-inspired routine when they were joined on stage by President Philomena V. Mantella. After stunning the crowd with impeccable dance moves, Mantella welcomed everyone to the event as confetti rained down.

When students wanted a break from dancing, they sat in the balcony or the sensory sensitive room, which was supplied with coloring pages and board games.

Presidents’ Ball was sponsored by the GVSU Office of Student Life, Office of the President, Campus Activities Board, and Student Senate.
