Pew FTLC - Reacting to the Past Pedagogy: Gamification in the High-Impact Classroom

Description

How can immersive role-playing support student learning, engagement, and retention?  In its bi-weekly meetings, this FLC will alternate the "why" and the "how" of Reacting to the Past, immersing faculty members in a RTTP experience during each of our sessions as we play the game Greenwich Village, 1913.  We will end each of our sessions with discussion of the readings from the SOTL literature on gamifying the classroom, simulation learning, and RTTP specifically.  The FLC has been structured so that participants experience Reacting to the Past first-hand and explore the body of scholarship that supports this practice as pedagogically sounds.
