Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness to Support Wellbeing & Belonging

GVSU Inclusion & Equity Institute Color Burst

Participants in this 90-minute workshop will learn about and experience the benefits of trauma-sensitive mindfulness (TSM), which include numerous enhancements to physical and psychological health, as well as becoming more aware of personal and cultural conditioning. The workshop format will be brief periods of didactic presentation integrated with experiential mindfulness practices. Skills to be explored include the TSM foundational practice of anchoring, a compassion practice, and an activity meditation. Time for reflection is built into the workshop.

Space in this cohort is limited to 30 participants. There is no fee to participate.

We hope you will join us! Participants in other offerings from this team of presenters consistently report improvements to their wellbeing, often accompanied by an enhanced sense of belonging.

Learning Outcomes - Participants will be able to:

  • State several well-known benefits of mindfulness
  • Discuss the specific benefits of the practices explored during the workshop
  • Identify ways to incorporate mindfulness into their everyday lives
