Join us for the Talking Together Kick-Off Reception from 4-4:30 pm! This reception will include hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and remarks from President Mantella and Lisa Perhamus, both sharing what this initiative means for our community!

Starting at 4:30pm, the in-person workshop called How To Talk To Your Neighbor will feature a training for university students, faculty, staff and community members on how to have conversations about important issues with people who believe, think, and vote differently than you. Come and learn how to have difficult conversations with your friends, family, and loved ones.

This 2 hour training will offer a framework for navigating difficult conversation, exploring the neuroscience and social science of polarity and divisiveness, offering both theory and interactive practice for having productive conversations that move towards listening and cooperation.

This training will be facilitated by One America Movement and is the first event in the Talking Together series.

Parking: GVSU students, faculty, & staff are expected to follow standard parking policies. Parking for community members is available at the Alumni House or in Lot D1 and Lot D2.
