Zombie Pathogens (Pathogen Host Manipulation)

Speaker: Kathryn Haley, PhD, BMS Department, GVSU

Location: SpeakEZ Lounge | 600 Monroe Ave. Grand Rapids NW 49503

Date: Thursday, July 14

Time: 8 p.m.

Event Description: All successful pathogens need to be able to transmit themselves from their current host to a new host. To achieve this goal some pathogens have evolved the ability to manipulate their hosts in a variety of bizarre and interesting ways including dramatically changing host behavior. Come join us to discuss cat-loving rats, zombie ants, and self-destructing crickets!
