Mary Frances Berry

The civil rights legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of both theory and practice, and so too has Dr. Mary Frances Berry practiced both academic and activist leadership. For more than four decades, Dr. Berry has been one of the most visible and respected activists in the cause of civil rights, gender equality, and social justice. She joins us to reflect on the legacy of Dr. King and draw on her experiences to explore contemporary issues at the intersection of race, protest, and politics. Dr. Berry will join the Hauenstein Center and Grand Valley’s Division of Inclusion and Equity for our annual celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Week at Grand Valley State University.

Please note: This event is the first to follow our new event format! As a reminder, following the keynote we invite you to join us for a public community conversation with coffee and light dessert.
