The Grand Valley Piano Chamber Series presents its sixth season: Viennese Dreams! This concert, Program III of the season, presents a pairing of piano trios written in the same key of E-flat major by two musical giants who lived and worked in Vienna at the same time: Beethoven and Schubert. Beethovens Op. 70 No. 2 was composed in 1808, around the time he also wrote his fifth and sixth symphonies, and is full of musical curiosities, starting with a calm opening by the strings. Schuberts D. 929 was written in 1827 when he was 30 years old and is one of his last works. There is a profound sense of both joy and sorrow. Joseph Maile and Jeremiah Shaw of the celebrated Telegraph Quartet join GVPCS Artistic Director, Sookkyung Cho.
