Dr. Joel Stillerman (GVSU Sociology department and Honors College) will be on hand to discuss his new book, “Identity Investments: Middle-Class Responses to Precarious Privilege in Neoliberal Chile.” Stillerman explores the politics and consumption habits of Chile's middle class, which skyrocketed as the post-Pinochet economy improved beginning in the 1990s. This work focuses on how the cultural, political, and religious habits of middle-class Chileans and how they reflect changes across the Global South.
