Common Language is a mixed media installation by 2024-25 Padnos Distinguished Artist-in- Residence, Katya Grokhovsky, a Ukrainian-born, NYC- based artist, educator, and founder of The Immigrant Artist Biennial. Using sculpture, Fiber, video, neon, and painting, the project explores how trauma and rage, especially during war and political unrest can be transformed through play and humor. Can we offer care despite discomfort? Can we heal and connect, or are we trapped by capitalism in systems of separation? Through emotion, intuition, and memory, Common Language seeks to dissolve borders and imagine new forms of collective home and belonging.

The exhibition starts at 8

Join us in celebrating 2024-2025 Distinguished Padnos Artist-in-Residence Katya Grokhovsky's exhibition and residency tenure, and welcoming Maria Gambino to the position for the 2025-2026 year. Refreshments provided.
