Bryan Newland, citizen and former chairman for Bay Mills Indian Community, appointed, under the historical appointment of Deb Harland as Secretary of the Department of Interior, as the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs. These are federal government oversight departments that have immense power over our tribal lands and sovereignty, and this historical moment to have Indigenous folks rise to this level of influence is something to stop and appreciate. He will be discussing the Bureau of Indian Education's role in impacting our Indigenous students' success in higher educational institutions.
