SAP Scholarship Competition at Grand Valley State University

SAP Scholarship Competition at Grand Valley State University

Three MIS students from Grand Valley State University earned full ride scholarships to the summer 2010 SAP TERP 10 Certification Academy at Grand Valley. The scholarship competition was founded by Enterprise Systems Student Union, a student organization at Grand Valley for students interested in enterprise systems.

Students were asked to submit a short paper detailing their ideas for improving the ERP curriculum in the Seidman School of Business at Grand Valley. Their ideas were critiqued by a panel of professors and they were asked to present their refined ideas in a 10 minute presentation.

This scholarship competition was an excellent way for students to share their ideas for improving the curriculum, apply their coursework, and improve upon their written and oral communication skills. Professors are already looking for ways to apply their concepts in the classroom.

The presenters expected that the first place winner would receive a full scholarship, second place would receive $500 and third would receive $250. Luckily, ESSU received enough sponsorships to provide full scholarships to all three students. Scholarships were provided by Wolverine Worldwide, Steelcase Inc, and Consumers Energy.

We hope that the scholarship competition grows in years to come and that companies view this competition as a way to support the ERP curriculum at Grand Valley and hear the great ideas that students have to offer.
