Graduate Teacher Education Programs

There are many important reasons to pursue a graduate degree in Education from Grand Valley State University. Whether your reason is to qualify for new opportunities, seek professional renewal and development, or move up the salary schedule, our broad selection of programs has the right fit for you. We can provide you with the additional support you need to give every child's brilliance a place to shine.

In addition to Education graduate degrees, GVSU also offers endorsements at the graduate level for educators who already hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate.

Graduate Program Options

Graduate Degrees

GVSU offers Master's programs in a variety of areas, as well as an Educational Specialist in Leadership degree and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership (in partnership with Eastern Michigan University).

Graduate Teacher Certification (GTC) Program

This intensive, full-time teacher preparation program is designed for adults who have obtained a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college. The GTC program will prepare candidates for their initial, standard teaching certificate in the state of Michigan. Please review the website for additional details about the Elementary or Secondary GTC program.

Graduate Endorsements for Teaching

GVSU offers endorsements at the graduate level for students who already hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate.

Graduate Certificate in Online/Blended Instruction

Graduate Certificate in English as a Second Language (ESOL)

Completing a graduate certificate does not result in teaching certification or lead to an additional endorsement for students who already hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate.
