I am the University Field Director for the Graduate Teacher Certification (GTC) program at Grand Valley State University, where I support teacher candidates, oversee field placements, and work closely with our partner districts. I bring more than 30 years of experience in education, including 27 years with Grand Rapids Public Schools as a science teacher, science curriculum supervisor, assistant principal, and instructional specialist. Before moving into the Field Director role, I served as a Visiting Professor of Integrated Science for elementary teachers, helping future educators build strong science understanding and instructional confidence. My work is grounded in a commitment to effective teaching, thoughtful curriculum design, and collaborative problem-solving. I enjoy supporting new teachers and helping them develop the skills, mindset, and professionalism needed to thrive in today’s classrooms.
