Meet the Mentors

Sorenson, Lorin

Lorin Sorenson began her career in non-profit fundraising after graduating from Aquinas College with a double major in Spanish and Communications in 2006.  While working in advertising during the day in Chicago, IL she began an evening master’s program at DePaul University.  After student teaching in Chicago Public Schools, she received her M.Ed. In 2009.  From 2009 until 2021, Lorin taught in Kent City Public Schools where she created a pre-school through 5th grade Spanish program, taught intervention/ELL and 4th grade.  In 2010, she earned the Extra Mile Award from the superintendent for creating a K-5 after school theater program for students learning English and has presented multiple programs she has created to the school board.  Lorin is working in the Battle Creek Public Schools as an early career teacher mentor at the elementary level and learning alongside the teacher interns.
