Thirty rising seniors from Battle Creek Central High School spent the week on GVSU's Allendale campus as ExCEL Scholars June 13-16, 2022.  They learned about aspects of teaching such as Culturally Responsive Teaching and Project-Based Learning, participated in team-building exercises, and explored the Allendale and Pew Grand Rapids campuses.

They experienced life on campus, living in the Glenn A. Niemeyer Learning & Living Center, eating in the Fresh Food Company, enjoying the Recreation Center, and forming relationships with GVSU student camp counselors, faculty, and staff. The scholars even got to talk with Dean Soman, President Mantella, and Vice President Hall-Jones.  One of the highlights of the week for many was exploring Lake Michigan and Spring Lake on GVSU's D.J. Angus research vessel!
