2026-2027 Peer Educators
Our Peer Educators Aim to:
- Destigmatize mental health diagnoses and the use of mental health services on campus
- Introduce and connect students to the University Counseling Center
- Provide education about student mental health and holistic wellness
- Engage in responsible dialogue and action around multiculturalism and social justice
- Serve as student leaders on campus
Abby Ellis (she/her)
Abby is an Allied Health Sciences major (emphasis in Social Science) with a minor in Psychology. She loves being a Peer Educator because she likes helping others and working as a Peer Educator is a great way to get involved on campus through advocacy and education of mental health. Her favorite self-care activities include reading, working out, and cooking!
Mimi Friel (she/her)
Mimi is a junior studying Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology. In the future, she hopes to pursue her PhD in Clinical Psychology. She loves being a Peer Educator since it gives her an opportunity to give back to her GV community in an inspiring, meaningful way. Mimi’s favorite self-care activities include spending time with her loved ones, exercising, and cuddling up with a good book or crochet project.
Natalie Jock (she/her)
Natalie is a senior studying Social Work with a minor in Psychology. She hopes to attend graduate school to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a focus in trauma-informed care. This is her second year as a Peer Educator, and she is excited to educate students about the University Counseling Center’s resources. Outside of the UCC, Natalie interns at a behavioral health hospital and works as a barista. She enjoys working out, crafting, and spending time with her roommates. She hopes to leave a positive impact on GVSU as she prepares to graduate in the spring.
Mary Konnie
Mary is a sophomore who is an Anthropology major with a Biology minor. She hopes to go on to be a Biological Anthropologist and to work at a university as a professor. She loves being a Peer Educator because she is very passionate about mental wellness and minimizing the stigma around it. She wants everyone to know it is perfectly okay to seek help, and wishes to promote the UCC through her role. Her favorite self-care activities are reading, listening to music, and meditating.
